To strap or not to strap that is the question. Actually in many cases it’s not the question, but more often than not, it’s a dilemma. If you find it necessary to have strapping applied to your body consider the implications it may have when swimming in a NSW sanctioned swim meet. The rules of swimming give the Referee the power to allow or not allow a swimmer the right enter the water with strapping on their body. If you have strapping you must always report to the Referee before the start of any session to obtain their approval to wear the strapping. The Referee’s decision is final and must always be sought. Failure to report strapping before you swim will more often than not result in a disqualification. If you’re in doubt as to what is allowed and what isn’t, talk to one of the Club’s Referees.
